If all of us professionals on LinkedIn donated the price of just 1 capuccino (€ 3.50) a month, we would end acute hunger worldwide.
Here’s the math.
At the moment 343 million people face crisis-level hunger (*). The World Food Programme (WFP) currently feeds about 123 million of these people (*), leaving 220 million unfed and facing starvation.
The WFP estimated it needs € 40 billion per year to end acute hunger by 2030 (*). That’s the comprehensive funding needed to feed everyone facing crisis-level hunger, scale up operations, and prevent famine. The WFP already has the infrastructure. They know how to deliver food at scale, even in conflict zones.
LinkedIn has 1.1 billion users (*). Let’s round that down to 1 billion:
€ 40 billion ÷ 1 billion people = € 40 per person per year
That’s € 3.33 per month. Round it up to € 3.50 (one cappuccino).
Can you afford this? Do you go on vacation? Buy coffee at a café? Eat out with friends or family? Then yes, you can likely afford € 3.50 per month.
Take action now. As Edmund Burke wrote (*):
“Nobody made a greater mistake than they who did nothing because they could do only a little.“
It takes 2 minutes:
- Download the ShareTheMeal app (iOS | Android)
- Create an account
- Set up a monthly donation of € 3.50.
I just did it using my debit card – no credit card needed.
In times that often feel overwhelming, here is one big global problem we can actually solve together. This is not about guilt. This is about hope. Some of humanity’s biggest challenges are solvable when we act collectively.
